Events Assistants Required

K-Woodland is a new Community Woodland site, just a few minutes from Hairmyres Station and Hospital. The East Kilbride Community Trust is a charity which strives to build a better, stronger, happier community, together. The Trust cares for the long term management and conservation of the site and has funding from the Central Scotland Green Network Development Fund to run a programme of woodland events to encourage community use of the wood.

As a result we are seeking enthusiastic and passionate people to volunteer with us on a flexible basis to help us deliver events and activities. Primarily the role is to assist the Community Woodland Engagement Officer, other EKCT staff and volunteers with the promotion and delivery of a variety of events in K-Woodland, including litter picks, nature walks, family events and forest school, and to be a friendly, informative representative of the Trust.

As Event Assistant you will use your natural enthusiasm, practical and people skills and your passion for nature to help us engage with visitors to ensure that their visit to the woodland is a first class experience. Through the delivery of events you will also deepen our visitors’ awareness of the work of the Trust and the opportunities available to those interested in supporting our work.

K-Woodlands, East Kilbride, owned and maintained by local charity EKCT

This is a great opportunity for those who want to work with diverse groups of people in the community and for those who have an interest in woods and wildlife. It is also ideal for volunteers wanting to develop their skills and experience in outdoor learning, forest school, events or conservation.

You will be provided with regular support and training, an EKCT branded T-shirt and access to equipment required to perform the task.

Please email Karen Smith, the Community Woodland Engagement Officer, at describing the qualities, skills and experience that would make you an exceptional volunteer.

Closing date: Tuesday, 28th February 2017
