K-park Training Academy has been a hive of activity since it opened to the Public in May 2011. We as a charity have been working hard to make sure that we meet the needs of the community of East Kilbride.
With this in mind and with the feedback we have been given we have started adding onto our already existing facilities. The frame work for the public toilets, a Fitness & Wellbeing Suite and the fit out of two large changing rooms as well as a referee’s room in the adjoining wing at K-Park began about four weeks ago.
These new additions to the already existing facilities will be an excellent complement to the covered stand which will look onto the full size eleven-a-side 3G football pitch and seven-a-side pitch (which splits into two 5-a-side parks).
We are looking forward to the new football season when it approaches and will look forward to welcoming the community into the comfortable surroundings of K-Park Training Academy.
The public toilets will be welcome additions to our facility as they will help to increase the comfort for spectators as will the covered stand. The Fitness & Wellbeing Suite will be an area specifically designed for well-being and to recuperate and condition young athletes through their injuries.
We are looking for volunteers physiotherapists to man this area, as we intend running a free service for the community in the health suite with the volunteers’ to help alleviate and recuperate all the users of the facility.
All these things will be positive improvements to the facility and will benefit the community as a whole.
James Kean Trustee said: “overall it will be a more pleasant experience for the spectators and all the different types of users of the facility, as they will also get the added benefit of a specialised room as well as the bigger changing rooms”.
