Discover-K: OPAL Bug Count Survey

The woods are full of wonderful plants and animals, that can tell us lots about the local environment. Become a Citizen Scientist for the day and help us discover more about K-Woodlands using OPAL surveys. By taking part, we will be helping researchers monitor the health of the natural world around the whole of the UK.

Bug Count

Invertebrates are vital to our environment, but do you know what bugs are living near you? In the Bugs Count survey we will discover the incredible variety of invertebrates that make their homes around us. Find as many bugs as you can in our timed challenges and keep a special eye out for the six “Species Quest” bugs. No prior experience is necessary to take part in the survey and it is suitable for people of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience.
