Primary Schools Get Creative for EK

School children from all over East Kilbride are getting their pens, pencils, paints and crayons out for East Kilbride Community Trust’s poster design competition.

East Milton Primary, Long Calderwood Primary, Mossneuk Primary and Heathery Knowe Primary, amongst others, have had speakers from East Kilbride Community Trust at their assemblies and in their classes talking to the children about what community is and the importance of helping one another.

The competition asks that the children design a poster about what community means to them and offers a prize of £50 to the winning individual and £150 towards health, fitness and horticulture equipment for their school.

Monique McAdams, Chief Executive of East Kilbride Community Trust, said: “We are so glad to be running our community poster competition with primary schools in East Kilbride. All the children we have visited have been very enthusiastic and are already knowledgeable about what community is due to their schools’ high level of involvement in local initiatives. We’ve learned quite a few things from them already!”
