Big hearted rail infrastructure organisation, the QTS Group, has stepped up to help restore the damage carried out by vandals at East Kilbride’s K-Woodlands earlier this month.

Volunteers and locals were left heartbroken to see the destruction caused in the much-loved area, with fences broken and trees pulled out the ground and thrown into the pond. After hearing about the damage, QTS, who are based at Drumclog, South Lanarkshire, reached out to Chief Executive of East Kilbride Community Trust and local Councillor, Monique McAdams, to offer support.

Monique said:

“When we saw the aftermath of the vandalism, we were devastated. It’s a band of dedicated volunteers who work together tirelessly to ensure the park is kept tidy so to see it being so disrespected was hard. When QTS got in touch to say they wanted to help clear up the mess and rebuild the fencing that had been destroyed, I was thrilled.

“The team came out to East Kilbride and replaced all the damaged fencing free of charge, which was a massive help to us and it makes the area look so much better and safer.”

Barry McLeish, Operations Director for QTS said:

“When we heard about what had happened at K-Woodlands, we wanted to help however we could. It’s important for us to be involved in the communities that our staff live in and that we as a business operate in.

“We were happy to provide fencing around the affected area that will help to protect those who are enjoying the park responsibly. It also improves the aesthetic of the park and hopefully will encourage others to look after it and keep it looking good.”
